Famous Taoist Mountain in China - Laoshan Mountain, the First Famous Mountain on the Sea
Laoshan Mountain is located in the eastern part of Qingdao, adjacent to the Yellow Sea on both the east and south sides, and is known as the "Famous Mountain on the Sea". Its highest peak is the Giant Peak, with an altitude of about 1100 meters. Laoshan has become a famous Taoist mountain for its grandeur, magnificence, uniqueness, and beauty. The Taoist temples, sunrise, and sea of clouds in Laoshan have long been renowned.
The Laoshan Scenic Area is mainly composed of seven major scenic tourist areas: Jufeng, Liuqing, Taiqing, Qipanshi, Yangkou, Beijiushui, and Hualou. There are four tourist routes in total, including three land routes (South Line, East Line, and Middle Line) and one waterway. Jufeng and Yangkou are also the natural beauty of Laoshan Mountain.
Jufeng Tourist Area: Located in the central area of Laoshan Scenic Area, Jufeng, commonly known as "Laoding", has an altitude of 1133 meters and is the highest peak on the 18000 kilometer coastline of mainland China. At an altitude of 800-900 meters around the Jufeng Peak, there is a mountain tour route that includes eight mountain gates named after the Eight Trigrams of the Book of Changes, corresponding to the eight surrounding mountain passes.
Liuqing Tourist Area: Located in the southern part of Laoshan Mountain, the scenic area features natural and cultural landscapes such as Liuqing River, Liuqing Bay, Abalone Island, and Laofu Island, which complement each other seamlessly.
Taiqing Tourist Area: located in the southeast of Laoshan Scenic Area, named after the famous Taoist temple Taiqing Palace. Taiqing Palace is the oldest and largest Taoist temple in Laoshan Mountain, known as the "second jungle of Taoism in the world".
Chessboard Stone Tourist Area: located in the eastern part of Laoshan Scenic Area, named after Chessboard Stone. Chessboard stone is a huge granite block shaped like a chessboard, and it is said that immortals once played chess here.
Yangkou Tourist Area: located in the northeast of Laoshan Scenic Area, with Xianshan Palace and bay beach landscape as its main features. There are attractions such as Taiping Palace, Lion Peak, Mitian Cave, and Tianyuan in the scenic area.
Beijiushui Tourist Area: Located in the northern part of Laoshan Scenic Area, it is mainly characterized by beautiful natural landscapes, humid air, and cool climate. It is a famous place for recuperation and summer retreat. There are attractions such as Jiushui and Shibatan, Chaoyin Waterfall, and Weizhu Temple in the scenic area.
Hualou Tourist Area: Located in the northwest of Laoshan Scenic Area, it is characterized by unique peaks and rocks, ancient caves with clear springs, and Taoist culture. There are attractions such as Hualou Peak, Hualou Palace, and Yuhuang Cave in the scenic area.
